Wobble fly was created by Martie van den Brand and it’s definitely going to find it’s place in my fly box. Fishing with wobblers can sometimes be much more effective than fishing with streamer flies. But why would you use a spinning rod since you can cast flies with wobbling movement? The wobbling movement of your fly can sometimes really make a difference. The creator of this fly made it especially for asp (Aspius aspius) and there is a bigger version of this fly for pike. Although it think it would be perfect for zander in lakes. Another advantage of this fly is that it dives fast and pretty deep when used with intermediate fly line. Here’s the original version of the wobble fly:

I just can’t stop wondering why mister van den Brand didn’t ad some flash or any hair on original version. Anyways… here’s my version of wobble fly! I used alot of flash and cactus chenille to make it sparkle as much as I could. :) Doll eyes are not there just for esthetics - they make some noise as well. Also, weed guard is actually a rock guard here. It should keep the hook sharp.

  1. Hello Milos,

Thanks for sharing on the flyfair. It was A great event as usally. Whitin a week or so my website wil be completed, incluiding the tying description of the original wobble fly. I can understand why you thought to your selve why I do not use any other material on the wobble fly. The wobble fly is and was created to match the hatch about pin fry(small bait fish). I am convinced that this fly wil do the job for zander instead. Also sea bass and tarpon loves this fly. The smaller ones will sort out the big trouts and hughen(donau lachs). The wobble blades I invented many years ago. You can order by poseidon in holland. Give Bert greetings from me.
