I blame Sebastian, Zvezdan and the crew from musicarenje forums for this one. I caught myself looking for synthetic materials around the house and trying to comb them. You can use any synthetic tape or rope and comb it to get such fiber… But I would recommend you to get some paper bag handles. And not just any handles, but Flat Polyester… Try not to confuse them with Cotton ones. Comb them using a hard brush. You can even combine fibers and get some pretty awesome colors.
And here’s one Peanut bunker by Zvezdan.
I’ve tried something similar just using separated fish tail. Trailing Fish Tail is Zvezdan’s invention as well.

Really, synthetic materials are verry good for fly tying and fly fishing, but dont ever forget some of naturals, or maybe combination of them
Cheers
I couldn’t agree more bro. To be honest I prefer naturals but since it’s hard to cast heavy streamers, as they are if they are made only from natural fur, I tend to use them as less as possible.
and if u use toothbrush after a comb u’ll get more flat or slick fibers
that material is good for smaller patterns because if u tie larger one and catch pike it become tangled so after one caught pike u have tu use comb. So if u tie flies for pikes rather use some stronger or rigid materials for other fish with no tooth that much as pike have this material are realy cool
same as streamers u can make also other tipe of flies from same material (nymphs, wet, dry…).
Great idea Seb! I’ve been using velcro tape for fine finish but I guess I can try toothbrush as well!
Thanks for the comment.
i’ve been grinding this stuff for dubbing for quite awhile.
i’ll try it your way…thanks.
you can try nylon mason’s cord, as well.
