I’ve never tried this color on my flies before and I guess it’s worth experimenting. Just got my Wapsi craft fur and I guess you’ll see alot of these in my fly box. I find craft fur one of the best materials I’ve ever tried. It’s so light synthetic and it’s so easy to cast such a flies. It’s giving you a benefit of fly fishing for pike with light rods and it’s quite an experience.

Weed is one of the easiest places to locate pike in the summer. But it’s not that easy to fish with just any regular streamer in weed. There are numerous ways to protect your hook from weed. You can even buy weedless hooks on market but I prefer to use my own weed guards. Here are a few simple ways to protect your hook using hard mono.

It was a great day yesterday but it seems it’s still early for big pike to wake up. Waters are still muddy and water level is still effected by melting snow and rain. All I can do is prepare for better days and tie some bigger flies.

In spring time pike is a bit more aggressive and it’s quite an experience to fish it on surface streamers. This pike popper is made on #2 hook and it’s a bit different than those bass poppers you see around.

Here’s a “little” something I made for pike. I hope I’ll try this one out next weekend. This one is made with Trailing Hook System mention before but this time I used two triple hooks. For this 7 inch (18 cm) streamer I used my favorite Craft Fur and Ostrich feathers.

Yesterday I had a trip to Bovan lake near Aleksinac. This was actually totally unexpected. I was fishing for pike… I even had a wire leader but I guess this little zander couldn’t resist my Ostrich and Craft Fur Pike Streamer. I know it’s not that big but it’s my first Zander ever caught on fly!

I just got my craft fur and it’s time to experiment. This one is made specially for pike.

Last year I’ve been fishing pike with single-hook streamers only. I just couldn’t set the hook every time the pike strikes. First I thought the problem was in my rod. But with some closer observation I noticed that pike would sometimes just grab a tail of my fly or just miss it when strikes.
